April 27th, 2011 The Day that Changed the South........Forever

April 24th, 2010: Albertville, AL was devasted by a tornado.....THANKFULLY no loss of life. As my former town rebuilt no one could image a year later what April 27th, 2011 would hold.......(thankfully Albertville was spared but communities surrounding the area had damage/loss of life and the Albertville area has power and supplies needs)

It was around 3 o'clock and I checked FB on my cell phone and saw the comments about Cullman and HSV area having tornadoes. I rushed back home, got on FB, called family and friends, turned on the weather channel and was literally glued for over 10 hours wondering what the result of this would hold. Will my family and friends lose their life? possessions? or be spared....... Finally around 1:00 am, it was over. The biggest storm in history hit MS/ AL/GA/TN. The killer tornado went over majority of Alabama, including areas of where my parents, brother, sister, and friends lived. It also stretched into GA  where my extended families lived. Each of these locations had damage, AMAZINGLY, They ALL are alive with minimal or no damage to recoup. Thats where the power and majesty of God hit me. I thanked God for sparing their lives. Sadly, there were those who lost family/friends along with possessions. As I was getting ready to head to bed,

I noticed a FB post from David Wilkerson Daily Devotion:

Believe when all means fail is exceedingly pleasing to God and is most acceptable. Jesus said to Thomas, “You have believed because you have seen, but blessed are those that do believe and have not seen” (John 20:29).
Blessed are those who believe when there is no evidence of an answer to prayer—who trust beyond hope when all means have failed.

Someone has come to the place of hopelessness—the end of hope—the end of all means. A loved one is facing death and doctors give no hope. Death seems inevitable. Hope is gone. The miracle prayed for is not happening.
That is when Satan’s hordes come to attack your mind with fear, anger, overwhelming questions: “Where is your God now? You prayed until you had no tears left. You fasted. You stood on promises. You trusted.”
Blasphemous thoughts will be injected into your mind: “Prayer failed. Faith failed. Don’t quit on God—just do not trust him anymore. It doesn’t pay!”

Even questioning God’s existence will be injected into your mind. These have been the devices of Satan for centuries. Some of the godliest men and women who ever lived were under such demonic attacks.
To those going through the valley and shadow of death, hear this word: Weeping will last through some dark, awful nights—and in that darkness you will soon hear the Father whisper, “I am with you. I cannot tell you why right now, but one day it will all make sense. You will see it was all part of my plan. It was no accident. It was no failure on your part. Hold fast. Let me embrace you in your hour of pain.”

Beloved, God has never failed to act but in goodness and love. When all means fail—his love prevails. Hold fast to your faith. Stand fast in his Word. There is no other hope in this world.

It put it all into perspective. Sadly, I found out that this devotion would be David Wilkerson last blog post on April 27th, because later that afternoon he entered into the throne of Heaven. It then became profound.

Yesterday many families are posting found debris of photos/torn documents/etc on facebook. What I found miraculous where torn pages from hymnal books and bibles were found.  These pieces were so tiny but held  HUGE messages. These things were carried hundreds of miles.

Torn pages of the bible that say: ""perish" and "destroy" ;  "let not your heart be troubled"; Revelations "the last hour" http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=200076130031083&set=o.162443980482277&type=1&theater
I found this folded scrap torn from a Bible up on Pine Mountain ... I love how it says "God healed" on one side and "Fear not" on the other. This one made me smile.

How AMAZING IS HE! of all verses and things to find...
Torn hymnal page: One side "The home over there" the other side "Jesus is Coming" :  A page of: "O Church of God, Triumphant." The words ... O Church of God, Triumphant Above the world's dark fears, Wherein our souls find refuge Thro' all these earthly years! Christ's steadfast, holy purpos

Yesterday morning, I awoke and noticed  the sun was shining so bright  in our front door, and I looked out and saw a Cross reflection RIGHT in front of our house.

God is always here.  In life we have trials and tribulations. The ones that we do not understand, make no sense, ones that shake our faith to the very core, but there is a peace and signs around that in the end all we have really in this life, is HIM! We are at his Mercy and will, no matter how much we like it or not. The only thing we can do is to chose whether we will will trust and serve Almighty God!

Please continue to pray for Alabama. MANY small communities were destroyed, not just Tuscaloosa and those areas are having hard time receiving AIDE or receiving any attention on the news. Families do not have access to water or gas. Northern Alabama is out of power and probably will be for days to come. The death count is over 300 but there are over 500 missing JUST in Tuscaloosa. Sadly, when its all said and done, the death total will probably be in the thousands as smaller communities are still trying to survey their losses.

Love,
Leigh
